When should I post on my organization's Wall rather than send a message to members of my organization?

Your organization's wall posts can only be seen by members of your organization and messages you send through the messaging tools are likewise only visible to group members. As a general rule though, anything that you do not want broadly shared should not be put into an electronic format that others could copy and paste without your knowledge or permission.

But is there any way to have emails sent to members when something is posted on the wall??? I need a discussion board type of thing, so I want to use the wall, but I wish people would get notified when something is posted! how!

Right now the wall posts do not send out email messages to other members of that organization. The only way to alert the membership about these posts would be to use our Messaging feature to let everyone know that the Wall will be the best way to hold discussions inside of your organization.
